Our Story

Fresh Farm Eggs is a family-owned Australian business with over 95 years in the egg industry, supplying high-quality, Australian-made egg packaging to farmers nationwide.

A Family Legacy Since 1927

Our family has been in the egg industry since 1927, when Joseph Attard migrated from Malta to Australia. Upon Joseph’s early demise in 1952, his son Charles Attard took over the family business of fresh egg deliveries to support his mother and three siblings.

Pioneers in Refrigerated Egg Transport

Charles Attard married Elina Attard (née Costa) and moved to Greystanes, NSW, in 1957. They continued to buy and sell eggs with Charlie’s family before Charlie branched out into transportation with Bill Sherry, and Brighton Transport was born — the very first refrigerated egg transport service in New South Wales. They worked exclusively with local farmers and the Egg Marketing Board to provide a safe, refrigerated journey from the farmers to the consumers.

Building the Foundations

Once the Egg Marketing Board ceased operations in 1989, Charlie, along with his younger brother John Attard, began supplying fresh eggs all over the Greater Sydney Area, which included contracts with the illustrious cruise ships and the Royal Australian Navy. Charlie rebranded Brighton Transport into Fresh Farm Eggs PTY LTD and it was during this time that Charlie began selling mouldered fibre egg packaging and boxes to farmers. In the early 90’s Charlies youngest daughter, Donna, joined the company to help with packing eggs and the accounts.

A Business Built on Family

Whilst still dealing heavily with the fresh egg side of the business, the egg packaging side started to grow, so Donna’s husband Steve joined the company. The fresh egg side was eventually sold off, and egg packaging took precedence.

Charlie, Donna, and Steve continued to run the business, with Elina's help, for many years, until Charlie sadly passed away in 2012. Although Charlie was the face of Fresh Farm Eggs, Donna and Steve were the backbone of the business and they, with Elina, were fully committed to keeping it going.

In 2014, after their son Jesse finished school the year earlier, he too joined the family business, marking the beginning of a fourth generation in the egg industry for the Attard/Sim family. They were soon joined by Donna and Steve’s daughter Ashlee in 2017, who has been instrumental in providing a helping hand with the accounts under Donna’s tutorship.

Today, Donna, Steve, Jesse, and Ashlee operate the company from the same place where their humble story began, providing egg farmers all over Australia with high-grade, Australian-made egg packaging and boxes.
